A city you can actually walk through
Perge is one of the most complete Roman-and-Hellenistic cities in the region, and unlike a lot of ancient sites where you're piecing together a plan from foundations, Perge lets you genuinely walk its main street, stand in its stadium, and see where the baths and agora were laid out. Much of what filled it — the statuary in particular — is now in the Antalya Museum, which is why visiting both, in either order, adds up to more than either alone.
What's there
Planning your visit
- Time needed: 1.5–2 hours to see the main areas without rushing.
- Shade: minimal — bring water, a hat and sun protection, especially May–September.
- Footwear: the main street's paving is uneven; proper walking shoes make a real difference.
- Getting there: about 40 minutes from central Antalya; often paired with Aspendos or as part of a half-day tour.
