Antalya's laid-back corner
Olympos and Çıralı, on the coast southwest of Antalya toward Kemer, are the region's low-key alternative to the resort strips — ancient ruins scattered through a river valley opening onto a long pebble beach, tree-house-style guesthouses instead of big hotels, and the genuinely strange Chimaera flames burning out of bare rock on the mountainside above.
What's there
Planning your visit
- As a day trip: roughly 1.5–2 hours from central Antalya; doable in a day but you'll be trading off time at each stop.
- As a base: if a slower, less resort-driven pace appeals, staying a night or two in Çıralı or Olympos is a genuinely different experience from the main coast.
- Seeing the Chimaera: a short uphill walk (20–30 minutes) from the car park; going at dusk or after dark makes the flames far more striking against the dark rock.
- Getting there: a rental car gives the most flexibility; organised tours and dolmuş connections from Antalya and Kemer also run, though less frequently than to the bigger sites.
