Do I need a visa to visit Antalya?
It depends on your nationality — many visitors can apply for an e-Visa online in advance, some nationalities need a full visa, and others can enter visa-free for short stays. Requirements change, so check Turkey's official e-Visa website for your specific nationality before you travel.
What currency is used, and should I exchange money before I go?
The Turkish lira (TRY) is the local currency. Card payments are widely accepted in tourist areas, but it's worth carrying some cash for taxis, small shops and markets. Exchange rates are generally better in the city than at the airport.
Is Antalya safe for tourists?
Antalya is a major, well-established tourist destination and generally safe, with the usual common-sense precautions around belongings in crowded areas. As with any destination, check your home country's current travel advice before you go.
Is English widely spoken?
Yes, in hotels, restaurants and shops across the tourist areas, though it's less consistent outside them. A few basic Turkish phrases go a long way and are well received.
How many days do you need in Antalya?
Three to four days covers the old town, a beach day and one nearby ruin comfortably. A week or more lets you add a proper day trip (Aspendos, the Köprülü Canyon, even Pamukkale) and explore a second base like Side or Alanya.
Is Antalya good for families?

Do I need to rent a car?
Not for the city itself — Kaleiçi is walkable and the tram, dolmuş and taxis cover the rest. A car becomes useful if you want to reach Termessos, the Köprülü Canyon or explore independently beyond the standard tour routes.
What should I pack?
Light clothing and sun protection for June–September, layers for spring/autumn, and a rain jacket for November–March. Comfortable, closed shoes matter year-round for Kaleiçi's cobbles and the ancient sites' uneven ground.
