What Lara is
Lara is Antalya's big sandy-beach resort strip, stretching east of the city along the coast. It's where most of the large all-inclusive hotels sit, and it delivers exactly what that suggests: wide golden sand, organised beach clubs, and a resort-holiday pace rather than a city-break one.
Who it suits
Families and travellers who want a proper sand beach on their doorstep, resort facilities (pools, entertainment, multiple restaurants) and don't mind being a taxi ride from the old town's atmosphere. It also works well as a base if you're planning beach-focused days with the occasional trip into Kaleiçi rather than the reverse.
Getting around from Lara
Central Antalya and Kaleiçi are a short taxi or dolmuş ride away (roughly 15–20 minutes). The Lower Düden Falls clifftop viewpoint sits right along this stretch of coast, making it an easy add-on. The airport is also relatively close, which can mean a shorter transfer than areas further along the coast.
Good to know
- Beachfront in Lara is dominated by resort hotels with private beach sections; independent access to open sand exists but is less common than at Konyaaltı.
- Nightlife and dining here are largely resort-based rather than the independent restaurant scene you'll find in Kaleiçi.
- If you want both the sandy beach and easy old-town access, Lara is the better sand-first compromise versus staying further out in Belek or Side.
